Our top tour team’s all-new recording reveals York’s glories

Our expert team behind York’s favourite open-top bus tour is releasing a brand new recorded guide to its unmissable sights.

Four of City Sightseeing York’s live tour guides – supervisor Nellie Kay and her team including Chris Geeson, Joyanne Ball and Nigel Walker – are behind the recording, which will play on our bright red open-top buses at quieter times.

It’s the first time our tour guides – who appear live on 50 per cent of the bus firm’s tours – have recorded their own commentary, packed with fun facts about York’s past and present.

Supervisor Nellie Kay says: “Some of our most experienced guides, Mark and Chris, have worked on much of the research for this project and have put the new recorded commentary together, supported by the rest of our team. I can promise it’s an entertaining listen which really helps our visitors to gain an insight into the real York, present and past.”

Here at City Sightseeing York, we’re the only bus tour to serve York’s outer areas as well as streets close to the city walls. This summer, you can also double your tour ticket – normally valid for 24 hours – to enjoy 48 hours’ unlimited travel for just £5 extra per person, or £10 for a family of four.

Our tour also offers York residents £7 off the price of a tour ticket on Sundays, giving locals as well as visitors the chance to discover more about the city – while those who travel into York by regular bus can get a £3 discount by showing their bus ticket to our tour drivers and ticket sellers.

Other discounts are also available any day of the week to NHS Blue Light Card holders, accompanying carers, emergency service workers and veterans with the appropriate ID.

City Sightseeing York tours follow a circular route across 21 stops, including outside The Milner York hotel close to York railway station, and Exhibition Square – opposite Bootham Bar and within sight of the Minster.
