Ever-popular driver Steve reaches the end of the road with us

The show’s over in Harrogate for our ever-popular Harrogate driver Steve Gill – one day short of his 75th birthday!

Steve joined our team 17 years ago on 29 August 2008, and has become a friendly and familiar face welcoming customers on The 36.

Steve has also loved being involved with our special shuttle services to the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, the Great Yorkshire Show and the Autumn Flower Show at Newby Hall near Ripon, taking the wheel on every day throughout each event.

His detailed knowledge, built up over years of driving, includes detailed timings and routes – and he’s always been happy to answer questions and help with connections and directions.

Steve also has what it takes when it comes to navigating our biggest buses through the tightest gaps – such as at Newby Hall – without incident.

Even though we’re saying a fond farewell to Steve, he isn’t completely giving up driving – he and his wife Angela will be taking to the road with their caravan in search of new adventures!

All of us at The Harrogate Bus Company wish Steve health and happiness in his retirement, and safe travels for the road ahead!
