Best foot forward! Our team strides out to save lives in Yorkshire

Fundraisers follow our Harrogate to Knaresborough Route 1 on foot to support Yorkshire cancer research charity

It’s a route we all know well – but our team don’t normally do it this way!

Our determined dozen set out to follow our ever-popular route 1 all the way from Harrogate to Knaresborough … not by bus, but on foot.

Every step helped to raise vital funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research’s We Walk for Yorkshire campaign on its way to reaching its £100,000 target.

Every 17 minutes, someone in Yorkshire is told they have cancer – and all funds raised through the charity challenge will support research to find a cure for more people in our county.

Our Managing Director Henri Rohard and Operations Director Vitto Pizzuti joined our team to complete the four-mile walk in one hour and 20 minutes.

Henri says: “Yorkshire Cancer Research became our charity partner just over a year ago, and since then we’ve helped in various ways to raise awareness of the world-leading research and services funded by them to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer in our region.

“As a team we were determined to do all we could to help – we’re hoping to raise £300 from donations collected along the route of the walk and afterwards, and we appreciate every penny.

“Our Route 1 electric buses travel between Harrogate and Knaresborough every 8 to 10 minutes, and complete the journey in as little as 13 minutes. We didn’t quite manage that pace on foot, but I’m very proud of our team who completed the challenge for this excellent cause.”
