16 state-of-the-art single-decker vehicles, worth nearly £4 million, have been delivered to The Blackburn Bus Company, the first of which have now been introduced on the 464 between Accrington, Rawtenstall and Rochdale.

These new buses have been built with passenger comfort in mind, with free Wi-Fi, USB Charging, and skylights, as well as back-to-back stop displays and comfortable moquette-trimmed high-back seats as standard.

Accessibility is also a key attribute; each bus features two wheelchair spaces, a built-in wheelchair ramp, audio next-stop announcements, and hearing loops for customers who require hearing aids.

General Manager Frank Stanisauskis celebrated: “These new buses will have an exceptionally positive impact on our local transport network, the local community who are dependent on the 464 for everyday life, and our amazing colleagues here at The Blackburn Bus Company. We look forward to welcoming customers on board these stylish, modern, and comfortable new vehicles.”

The Alexander Dennis Enviro200 model is also a low-carbon emission vehicle, using around 15% less fuel compared to similar single-deckers. The Blackburn Bus Company will be running them on high-blend biodiesel – making them both fuel-efficient and cost-effective for us to operate.

Transdev Blazefield Managing Director Henri Rohard added: “The new 464 delivery, an investment of almost £4 million, demonstrates both our commitment to enhancing our fleets across the North of England – and our dedication to reducing the environmental impact of our buses.”

464 timetables and routes will not change with the launch of these new buses: the service will continue to operate as normal, with departures every 15 minutes Monday-Saturday, and half-hourly frequency during the evening and on Sunday.

Transdev’s introduction of these 16 new buses for The Blackburn Bus Company follows the rollout of 15 eCitaro buses for The Keighley Bus Company, and 15 Mercedes-Benz Citaro hybrid buses to the FLYER-branded network in 2025.

You can track your bus and buy mobile tickets on the Transdev Go app.
