Skipton – for canal boats, a castle and more!
This wonderful Yorkshire market town makes an ideal choice for a day out! Skipton has an amazing market four days a week, canalside walks and narrowboat trips, several arts venues, an independent cinema, two theatres, excellent pubs and restaurants, and so much more.
At the heart of the town stands Skipton Castle, over 900 years old and one of the best preserved medieval castles anywhere in England. Explore this impressive fortress, which withstood a three-year siege during the English Civil War, as you climb from the depths of the Dungeon to the lofty Watch Tower.
Skipton is also the gateway to the Dales, on our scenic 72 to Grassington. Our friends at Great Scenic Journeys have put together a wonderful guide to what you can do on the 72, and their video below has lots of great ideas for places to go on our buses. And don’t miss our Dalesbus routes on Sundays and bank holidays to take you even further into the stunning Yorkshire countryside!
