customers
we place our customers at the heart of everything we do – and we strive to deliver a better journey for every customer, every day
At Transdev, our customers are always our number one priority. As a household name in the places we serve, our focus is on providing safe, reliable and attractive transport, supported by a wealth of global expertiseand strong local commitment which combine to enhance connectivity within and between communities across the North.
But don’t just take our word for it. Independent watchdog Transport Focus surveys customer satisfaction across bus operators – and results show our routes are rated as the best in the areas we serve.
As experienced and trusted partners with local and regional authorities across the North, we work in close collaboration with them to unlock Government funding for key transport projects, to deliver better journeys for our customers.
With our partners North Yorkshire Council, we secured £7.8 million through ZEBRA, the Government’s Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas fund, to underpin Transdev’s own £13.2 million investment in our programme to deliver a new fleet of zero emission electric buses and a fully re-equipped depot to support them in Harrogate.
This exciting project is also part of North Yorkshire’s Bus Service Improvement Programme (BSIP), designed to enhance local bus services and encourage modal shift to the bus. Going forward, we will work closely with the North Yorkshire and York Mayoral Combined Authority to support delivery of its short and longer term transport objectives.
BSIP funding supports the provision of bus services across our region, such as extra Coastliner journeys between York and Leeds, buses on Coastliner’s 840 route between Malton and Whitby – named Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route in a national poll of bus users. Also supported via BSIP are extra peak time buses on The 1 between Harrogate and Knaresborough, plus evening journeys to Pannal Ash in Harrogate on route 6and on rural route 24 between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge.
Meanwhile in West Yorkshire, working with the Mayor and Combined Authority, additional journeys secured by BSIP funding have increased frequency on Aireline between Leeds and Keighley, and on Keighley local routes K2 and K3 to Braithwaite and K7 to Oakworth.
In Lancashire, we are working with the County Council and the unitary Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to make buses better by supporting the delivery of the region’s BSIP, backed by Department for Transport funding of £41.9 million.
Our buses in Lancashire at the bus station and on the road
Funding via BSIP supports evening and Sunday journeys, including on our Valleyline route 22 between Shadsworth, Blackburn and Clitheroe, plus Sunday buses on route 8 between Burnley and Bacup and route 4 to Worsthorne.
The introduction of a £1 fare cap after 19.00 on weekdays and all day Sundays is helping to generate increased bus patronage across Lancashire – while in the years ahead, this will include the introduction of multi-modal, multi operator ticketing across the county following a successful pilot in the Preston and Fylde Coast areas.
As an experienced provider of contracted transport solutions, our expert team plan and operate school and college bus networks across the North.
In east Lancashire, we operate student bus networks connecting communities to study facilities, including bespoke routes linking Clitheroe, Barnoldswick, Todmorden in West Yorkshire, Burnley and Wilpshire to Nelson and Colne College.
We also provide transport from various east Lancashire towns and villages to All Saints Roman Catholic High School in Rawtenstall, Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and Skipton Girls’ High School.
In close collaboration with college administrators and Lancashire County Council as the local education authority, we organise routes, timings, travel passes, security and safety.
Within West Yorkshire, we operate over 40 routes exclusively for students in association with the Combined Authority (Metro).
From experience, we know that building a successful student transport network takes more than just running buses – for example, tickets and passes have to be readily available, and excellent value.
Most of our school and college services issue and accept tickets from our standard product range. On three dedicated routes in Lancashire and four in West Yorkshire, pre-booked travel is secured with a small deposit, with students holding a ticket for the academic year from September to July, which can also be used to travel on our regular bus network in the same area at other times.
We can also arrange for colleges to sell travel passes directly to students, with tickets delivered to a mobile phone through our fast and easy to use Transdev Go mobile app, or at a discount to a smartcard, for the academic year.
