Spooky season in York and Leeds

There’s plenty going on this half-term holiday – including a frightening amount of family-friendly and adults-only Halloween events to look forward to!
So, we thought we’d share just a handful of shows, offers, and experiences that you can get to by bus.
👻 York Dungeon Halloween Events: Oct 10 – Nov 1
There are two very special events coming to York Dungeons this Halloween – the first focuses on Mother Shipton, and the other is a unique Walking Tour through the city.
Specially made for Halloween 2026, the Mother Shipton show reveals how this mysterious Yorkshire woman became one of the world’s most famous prophesiers. Open Oct 10 – Nov 1.
Fancy some fresh air? The Little Peasants Walking Tour takes you around the sites with Jester and Smedley, two pesky peasants who’ll teach you all about York’s darker side. The Walking Tour is running (or rather walking) for a limited time: Oct 24 – 31.
Jump on any of our buses towards York. Got some spare time? Check out our open-top tours of the city with CitySightseeing.
🍫 Halloween Chocolate Experiences: Oct 24 – Nov 1
Halloween means chocolate, and there’s no better place to secure a spooky sweet treat than York’s Chocolate Story – especially with their three new events special for Halloween.
There’s the “Tour and Halloween Truffle Rolling”, a 90-minute “Halloween Masterclass”, and even a “Trick or Treat Trek” through York’s chocolate streets.
Hop on any of our buses towards York and make your way to King’s Square.
🕷 Flamingo Land Halloween Spooktacular: Oct 9 – 31
One of the biggest events of the spooky season in North Yorkshire is at Flamingo Land – in particular, the “Stalk in the Park” event that involves after-dark rides, two horrifying scare mazes, and a ‘Halloween Express’.
There’s also a Trick or Treat interactive trail, Fancy Dress Competition, Halloween Show, Fancy Dress Party, Fireworks event, and even a Drone Show – check ahead of time which days these are available.
Select Coastliner 840 services from York, stopping at Kirby Misperton.
💀 Leeds Scare Maze (for ages 12+): Oct 9 – Nov 1
If you’re willing to travel slightly further afield, Leeds Scare Maze should certainly be on your “to-do” list for the upcoming spooky season.
Suitable only for over-12s (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult), the highly rated Scare Maze features dozens of dedicated live performers, a horror maze that’ll have your head spinning, and an integrated sound/smoke system.
Our 840 and 843 Coastliner buses go to Leeds from Malton and York.
⛳ Hole in Wand’s Trick or Treat Crazy Golf: Open 10-7
Everyone loves a game of crazy golf – and one of the best courses in the city is at The Hole in Wand’s, which has a new Halloween twist this October half term.
When you arrive, spin the wheel for a Magical Treat or a Tricky Surprise, then conquer the course with a 9-hole game of Wizard Golf.
Hole in Wand is found on Coppergate Walk in the city centre; simply hop on any of our buses towards York.
