Spooky season in Keighley and Leeds

Yesterday Thu 22nd Oct 2026

There’s plenty going on this half-term holiday – including a frightening amount of family-friendly and adults-only Halloween events to look forward to!

So, we thought we’d share just a handful of shows, offers, and experiences that you can get to by bus.

👻 Family-friendly ‘Spooky Express’: Oct 29 – 31

For three days only, the Keighley Worth Valley Railway is hosting a family-friendly adventure that’ll take you “from here to scare” on the ‘Spooky Express’.

The day starts at Oxenhope station for a trip to the Haunted Engine Shed and a live ‘Spooky Show’, then board the ‘Spooky Express’ – packed with decorations and characters – and even a few jump scares along the way… And of course, fancy dress is encouraged.

Hop on the BronteBus B3 from Keighley Bus Station to Oxenhope, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk away.

🚂 Adults-only ‘Scare Train’ experience: Oct 31

If you want to make this year’s Halloween extra special – and extra scary – then the Keighley Worth Valley Railway’s unique “Scare Train” event might be the one for you.

Only available to those 18+, board the train as it winds through the darkness, with live performers, horrifying characters, and plenty of frightening surprises along the way!

And of course, there’s a special Halloween After Party for those who survive the night.

Catch the BronteBus B3 from Keighley Bus Station to Oxenhope, and it’s just a few minutes’ walk away.

🎬 Monster Mash at Bradford’s Media Museum: Oct 24 and 31

Halloween means Horror Movie season – and there’s no better place to learn about the classic monster films of the past than at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.

‘Monster Mash: Four Monsters That Changed Horror’ brings together four landmark horror films spanning 50 years: “Frankenstein” (1931), “Bride of Frankenstein” (1935), “Re-Animator” (1985), and “The Thing” (1982).

The SHUTTLE 662 goes right the way through from Keighley Bus Station to Bradford.

💀 Leeds Scare Maze (for ages 12+): Oct 9 – Nov 1

If you’re a grown-up looking to ‘get your scare on’ this Halloween, the top spot in the city centre is certainly Leeds Scare Maze – suitable only for over-12s, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

With dedicated live performers, a horror maze that’ll have your head spinning, and an integrated sound/smoke system, if you want jump scares this Halloween, Leeds Scare Maze should be #1 on your to-do list.

Both the Aireline 60 and 60A go from Keighley into Leeds city centre, and it’s just a 10-15 min walk to Heatons Court.

👣 Ilkley Pumpkin Trail: Oct 23 – Nov 1

Pick a day with decent weather, grab a pen or pencil, and head out to Ilkley for an 18-stop Pumpkin Trail that takes you 'round the town.

There are 18 pumpkins on display across the town centre, each with its own individual name – write them all down on the official Pumpkin Trail form for your chance to win a £50 Gift Card!

Hop on the 62 from Keighley Bus Station for a short 30-minute ride to Ilkley.
