Spooky season in Harrogate and Leeds

Yesterday Thu 22nd Oct 2026

There’s plenty going on this half-term holiday – including a frightening amount of family-friendly and adults-only Halloween events to look forward to!

So, we thought we’d share just a handful of shows, offers, and experiences that you can get to by bus.

🦇 Mother Shipton’s Hocus Pocus Halloween: Oct 24 – Nov 1

A bewitching adventure inspired by the magical world of Hocus Pocus; expect cauldrons, witches, and mischief on this spooktacular adventure at Mother Shipton’s.

Venture further into the Knaresborough forest and see the world-famous Petrifying Well. And end the day with a Black Vanilla Ice Cream, a Pumpkin Spice Latte, or a Ghostly Marshmallow toast before heading to the petrifying gift shop.

From Harrogate Bus Station, hop on the 1A, 1B, or 1C towards Knaresborough.

‍🐈‍⬛ Stockeld Park Spooky Season: Oct 17 – Nov 1

The amazing Stockeld Park is hosting four unique events this year for Halloween:

Enjoy live performances from the Woodland Witches, Pick Your Own Pumpkin from the pumpkin patch, a twist-and-turn Monster Maze, and a battle arena with special Zombie Laser Tag.

Our 7 bus goes from Harrogate Bus Station and stops right outside the park entrance.

💀 Leeds Scare Maze (for ages 12+): Oct 9 – Nov 1

If you’re a grown-up looking to ‘get your scare on’ this Halloween, the top spot in the city centre is Leeds Scare Maze – suitable only for ages 12+, and under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

With dedicated live performers, a horror maze that’ll have your head spinning, and an integrated sound/smoke system, Leeds Scare Maze should be #1 on your to-do list if you want jump scares this Halloween.

The flagship 36 bus goes from Ripon and Harrogate into Leeds, and it’s just a 10-15 min walk to Heatons Court.

💜 RHS Harlow Carr Spooky Plants: Oct 24 – Nov 1

Uncover the spooky secrets of plants, tackle interactive trails, and meet some creepy crawlies at RHS Harlow Carr.

This Halloween, families can explore the interactive Spooky Plant Trail, get close with snakes, snails, and spiders at the Zoolab, create their very own monster at Monster Hair Planting, and uncover strange potions with the Garden Detectives.

Hop on the 6 bus from Harrogate Bus Station, and we’ll drop you off less than an eight-minute walk away from the gardens.

👣 Harrogate Town Centre Halloween Trail: Oct 25 – Nov 1

Harrogate BID hosts an immersive new Halloween experience, starting/ending at the Crown Hotel and running throughout the town centre.

Collect a special trail sheet from the Crown Hotel, spot the monsters hiding at each location to collect all the letters, and return with your completed sheet to redeem a Halloween prize. There’ll also be crafts, games, and themed treats that’ll fuel the fun!

Simply jump on any of our buses headed towards Harrogate Bus Station – and it’s a short 5/10-minute walk to the Crown.

🙀 Scream Halloween at Harewood House: Oct 24 – Nov 1

There’ll be plenty of opportunities for family fun at Harewood House this October half term – including a whole host of Halloween-themed activities.

If you’ve ever fancied flying through the skies, why not check out Broomstick Making? Or explore the grounds at your own pace on either The Spells and Sparkles Trail and The Spooky Tree Trail.

Our flagship 36 bus takes you into Harewood, a short walk away through the trees to the House grounds.

👻 Harrogate Ghost Walk: Oct 16 – 31

If you’re brave enough, the Harrogate Ghost Walk is your chance to discover stories of gruesome murders, unnerving ghosts, and tales from the past that’ll send a shiver down your spine.

The walk takes you to some of Harrogate’s most popular spots, including the Pump Room Museum, theatres, cinemas, heritage sites, and swanky hotels.

Board any of our routes towards Harrogate Bus Station – and it’s a short 5/10-minute walk from the main bus station.
