Spooky season in-and-around Blackburn

There’s plenty going on this half-term holiday – including a frightening amount of family-friendly and adults-only Halloween events to look forward to!

So, we thought we’d share just a handful of shows, offers, and experiences that you can get to by bus.

🐈‍⬛ Halloween Potion Hunt at Go Ape Blackburn: Oct 24 – Nov 1

Feeling adventurous this Halloween? Go Ape’s brand-new tree-top adventure – “Potion Hunt” – will test both your climbing skills and your wits.

Climb through the trees to find strange ingredients that have landed high up in the branches, locate clues on signs dotted around the course or nets experience, and solve the mystery potion.

From Blackburn town centre, hop on either the Hotline 152 or the 4 bus, and hop off at Witton Park.

🧙 Hoghton Tower School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Oct 27 – 29

If mystery and magic is more your thing, check out Hoghton Tower’s new story-led event “School of Witchcraft and Wizardry” – suitable for children between 7-12 years.

Take magic lessons, learn how to cast spells, and make potions in this 2-hour adventure. And of course, fancy dress is encouraged.

Our Hotline 152 service goes to Hoghton from Blackburn, Burnley, and Preston.

👻 Clitheroe Castle’s Spooky Quest: Oct 30

It’s night at the museum like you’ve never seen before – explore the Clitheroe Castle Museum after dark at this one-day-only event.

There’ll be live characters, a Yucky Dip, games, and crafts; make sure you’ve escaped by 6:30 pm, when the doors lock!

Our Valleyline 22 bus goes from Shadsworth and Blackburn to Clitheroe.

🎃 Pumpkin Carving at Blackburn Market Arts Space: Oct 24

Turn a simple pumpkin into a ghoulish masterpiece at this creative and completely free family event at The Market Arts Space on Church Street.

Pumpkins will be provided, so the only thing you need to bring is your creativity!

🕸 Halloween Ice Skating at Planet Ice: Oct 30

If you fancy gliding about on the ice this Halloween – Planet Ice is the place to be.

With public skating every day through the half-term holiday, spooky season ends with a special Halloween skate on Friday evening.
