Food Drives deliver over 1,000 donations across Yorkshire and Lancashire

Making a difference – Transdev’s Christmas Food Drive has been an enormous success, with over 1100 items being donated to food banks across the North of England.

Over 14 million people in the UK are living below the poverty line – that’s one in five Britons – and at Christmas time, it can be especially hard to make ends meet.

From Blackburn and Burnley to Halifax and Harrogate, we’re delighted to announce that together, our regional bus companies have donated over one thousand items to those in need across Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Transdev Food Drives deliver donations to those in need

Our buses serve countless local communities across the North of England, and this Christmas, we wanted to go as many extra miles as we could for those in need.

That’s why we asked each of our local teams to coordinate a charity Food Drive for their local food bank, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the donations that have come in.

Across the North of England, Transdev has donated over 1100 items. These parcels will be distributed to the Blackburn Foodbank, the Elland and District Foodbank, The Salvation Army in Keighley, The Joyful Brew in Harrogate, and Burnley FC in the Community.

Project and Marketing Manager Matt Burley was delighted with the results: “We knew that our colleagues here at Transdev would donate a large amount of food to charity, but we couldn’t have imagined so many different items being contributed. To hit four figures – tinned food, dry food, toiletries, hygiene products, and even pet food – is amazing. A massive thank you to everyone who donated this year!”

A very special mention to Frank Stanisauskis and his team at The Blackburn Bus Company, who came together to donate more than 630 individual items – a truly outstanding achievement, thank you, Blackburn!

In addition to the region-specific Food Drives, Transdev Blazefield also donated 10 full Christmas meals to the Harrogate Foodbank, which were distributed to families in need on December 18.

Each meal hamper contained a whole Turkey Crown, Turkey Gravy, Parsnips, Carrots, Roast Potatoes, Sprouts, Pigs in Blankets, Chocolate Coins, Christmas Crackers, and Mince Pies – everything that a family would need for a classic Xmas dinner.
