Our fantastic night at the Amazing Awards 2020
1 month ago
On 24 January we held our annual Amazing Awards, one of the most important things we do all year. Our business here at Transdev is all about people serving people and it’s a great opportunity to come together and celebrate our outstanding services and hardworking colleagues.
We had the pleasure of welcoming Ted Robbins, known for his roles on Holby City and Phoenix Nights, to guest host for us on the evening, as well as Harry Gration, Yorkshire’s favourite newsreader, as our Master of Ceremonies.
We are so proud of all our finalists and winners. As a company seen as one of the leaders in our competitive and vast industry, they really represent the best of us.
As the team from The Burnley Bus Company, we had a fantastic night with great company from right across Transdev and are delighted to bring some winners’ trophies home.
Our driver Mick Cummings took home the highly competitive Hero of the Year award. We’ve got many great people who do amazing things, but the shortlisted heroes have proven their determination to go the extra mile when the situation demanded it. One of Mick’s elderly passengers slipped while trying to board his bus and suffered a serious leg injury. She was heavily bleeding and Mick tried to stem the blood whilst calling the ambulance. If that wasn’t enough, Mick then visited her in hospital with flowers and kept in touch to make sure she was recovering and feeling better.
Barry Stewart was the winner of the Engineer of the Year award - a huge achievement! Often the unsung heroes of the business, our engineers truly help us keep the wheels turning. We have some exceptional talents in our garages and this award singles out the best. Barry is a hugely valued member of the engineering team here in Burnley. For the last two years additional buses have been looked after at the Queensgate depot where Barry works, and his worth ethic, high standards and commitment to the job have helped the whole team over this time. Barry makes a significant contribution to their exceptional MOT pass rate which has been the highest across the whole company in each of the last six years.
