Our popular FLYER network of routes linking Leeds, Bradford and Harrogate with Leeds Bradford Airport is operated by our dedicated team based at Idle, near Bradford. Three routes radiate from the Airport, providing fast and accessible journeys from and to Harrogate, Otley, Bradford and Leeds.

FLYER services are run in a three-way partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (Metro) and Leeds Bradford Airport, to provide an environmentally friendly alternative to the car for those flying from the airport for business and leisure, as well as for the site’s dedicated workforce.

Our new fleet of 15 energy-efficient Mercedes Benz Citaro hybrid buses is also rolling out on our FLYER network in 2025 . These impressive new vehicles run on a combination of electric power and biodiesel to keep emissions as low as possible, and are among Europe’s most energy efficient hybrid buses.

On board each new bus is a full package of customer friendly features, including free Wi-Fi and USB charging, next stop information displays and a hearing loop system to make communication easier for those with a hearing disability. Each bus will also continue to offer plentiful luggage space.

We’re confident our customers will love travelling on these impressive new buses – providing the most energy-efficient and environment-friendly way to reach our regional airport – while helping to offset carbon emissions associated with air travel.

Transdev operates the FLYER network in a multi-year contract which is fully integrated into our own growth strategy, with the aim of attracting and retaining new customers.

The three FLYER routes are:

  • FLYER A1 – to the Airport from Leeds City Bus Station, Kirkstall and Horsforth, with buses operating up to every 30 minutes from early morning to late at night

  • FLYER A2 – to the Airport from Harrogate Bus Station, Oatlands, Pannal and Huby, and from Bradford Interchange, Greengates, Apperley Bridge and Yeadon. Buses run each hour through the day and between the Airport and Bradford until late at night

  • FLYER A3 – to the Airport from Otley and Pool, and from Bradford Interchange, Shipley, Guiseley and Yeadon. Buses run each hour from early morning to late at night.

FLYER routes A2 and A3 combine to provide two buses per hour throughout the day between Bradford and the Airport. All three routes operate seven days a week, providing easy connections with most flight arrivals and departures, and helping to deliver a vital boost to Yorkshire’s economy.

The FLYER bus network is fully integrated with Yorkshire’s existing bus and rail networks, with through ticketing to Leeds Bradford Airport from any rail station on the national network, and from departure points nationwide served by National Express coaches. This means all journeys to the Airport from any locations served by rail and coach can be made on just one ticket.

Working together, all three partners behind the FLYER network share the vision of a high-quality, integrated and sustainable group of services linking Leeds Bradford Airport with cities and towns across the North, with the aim of achieving further growth in journeys to and from the Airport, now and in the years ahead.

FLYER buses in our eye-catching yellow and charcoal livery are equipped with additional luggage space, as befits an important link to Yorkshire’s leading regional airport.
