The best days to visit are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, when dozens of outdoor stalls join locally owned stores to create an amazing shopping experience.
And Bury’s attractions are more than just shopping – try a trip on the East Lancashire Railway, whose 12 miles of track includes seven stations packed with things to do and see. Bury’s Art Museum and Sculpture Centre are ideal for culture fans. The art gallery was specially built to house the Wrigley Collection, over two hundred oil paintings, watercolours, prints and ceramics collected by local paper manufacturer Thomas Wrigley – while the Sculpture Centre offers exhibitions featuring some of the most prominent sculptors in contemporary art.
