Our fantastic night at The Amazing Awards 2020
2 months ago
On 24 January we held our annual Amazing Awards, one of the most important things we do all year. Our business here at Transdev is all about people serving people and it’s a great opportunity to come together and celebrate our outstanding services and hardworking colleagues.
We had the pleasure of welcoming Ted Robbins, known for his roles on Holby City and Phoenix Nights, to guest host for us on the evening, as well as Harry Gration, Yorkshire’s favourite newsreader, as our Master of Ceremonies.
We are so proud of all our finalists and winners. As a company seen as one of the leaders in our competitive and vast industry, they really represent the best of us.
As the team from Rosso, we had a fantastic night with great company from right across Transdev and are delighted to bring some winners’ trophies home.
Our first winner was Lee Wardle for the Rising Star award. This category looked for an exceptional colleague who, despite being with us for a short time, has impressed and who we will expect to progress to even greater things. Lee is one of our talented Duty Managers and works at the Rochdale depot. He has really stepped up this past year, taking on many new challenges as those around him have moved into different roles. Rosso has had a very busy year and Lee’s attitude and dedication has been second-to-none, no matter what has been asked of him.
We are also the proud winner of Depot of the Year! All Transdev teams competed together over a wide range of criteria where the judges look at the raw performance statistics, as well as taking into account year on year improvements in each individual area. It’s a tough challenge to come out on top when so many areas are being considered, from reliability and cost management to customer satisfaction. As a company, Rosso came out on top and impressed the judges with their progress this year.
Another success saw our driver Judith Lofthouse come away with a Highly Commended in the Customer Choice award. For the first time, we asked our customers to tell us their favourite drivers through online nominations, along with the reasons why. Judith was nominated by a customer who remembered the time she helped them with full shopping bags when they were struggling, and another said she’s the most knowledgeable about the different tickets and prices. They are just a few of the comments we received for this standout member of our Rosso team.
A second of our drivers also received a Highly Commended mention - Sam Abraham for the Hero of the Year award. We have got many great people who do amazing things, but the shortlisted heroes have proven their determination to go the extra mile when the situation demanded it. Sam went out of his way to help a customer in need who was on their way to a job interview, stepping in to give him £10 of his own money when they found themselves without the money to pay for a ticket.
The final Rosso winner of the night was Fungai Mbavarira for the coveted Driver of the Year award! This award is for the very best of the best, from the shortlist of this year’s Pride of the North Cup winners. They are judged on a range of disciplines from the smartness of their uniform to a driving style that means it’s comfortable for all passengers. The judges, having independently audited all of the drivers nominated, said Fungai’s natural warmth and cheerful manner light up the bus and create that extra spark needed to nudge ahead of the rest. His smiling welcome creates an outstanding first impression and coupled with immaculate presentation and a smooth and progressive drive, this was an unbeatable all round performance.
Once again, a big congratulations to all the winners and finalists!
