We're looking for Engineering Apprentices in Keighley

We’re growing our team in 2022, with six new engineering apprenticeship positions across our Company.

Here at Transdev Blazefield, we run buses across the North of England, from Preston in the West to Scarborough in the East. We’re a 1250-strong, award-winning team, proud to be making bus travel better across the towns and cities we serve. Now more than ever, bus travel has been proven as critical to how our communities go about their lives every day and it’s our engineers who really keep the wheels turning.

Our three to four year Apprenticeship Programme will lead to a Level 3 Bus and Coach Engineering Technician qualification which specialises in Mechelec (a combination of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering).

This is a vital role in the future of Engineering within our business and is part of a programme that we’re proud to be launching.

The programme will involve:

  • In the first three years, you’ll be mentored and supported by experienced engineering teams at one of our modern depots whilst you are working towards the Level 3 Bus and Coach Engineering Technician Standard specialising in Mechelec.
  • Over the three years, you'll also attend specialist training at our providers college in Withenshawe. This will be for 26 weeks, one-week blocks with travel and accommodation covered by us.
  • During the fourth year of the programme, you'll be working on our specially designed additional training programme with additional training courses and extra development through spending time in other depots across our network.
  • For your whole Apprenticeship, you'll be paired with a fully trained mentor to guide you through the programme.

This year we’re taking on six apprentices, with one in our Harrogate depot, three in Burnley, two in our Keighley depot. In the three locations you'll be working on some of the most modern and innovative vehicles in the country.

This programme will give you the opportunity to join a great Company who value apprenticeship programmes. In fact, you’ll be learning alongside 20 others who are completing various other apprenticeships here at Transdev. As part of this apprenticeship programme, you’re not only supported by your mentor, training provider, other engineers in our workshops and your manager, but also by a large team of people who are all keen to learn and develop.

To apply you’ll need to show a keen interest in the bus industry and be able to demonstrate how you’re organised, good at problem solving, a good communicator and showing promise to develop mechanical skills. If you haven’t reached level 2 in English and Maths, don't worry - you’ll be supported to do this during the apprenticeship too.

Apply with a letter outlining how you think you meet what we're looking for, with a copy of your CV showing your educational history too, too [email protected]
