The grand 11th-century castle makes a dramatic centrepiece to this bustling market town. It has quaint streets, an award-winning market selling all sorts of tasty treats, and cafés, pubs and restaurants galore all within a hop, skip and a jump of each other. Skipton’s Christmas lights switch on will be held on the High Street on 24 Nov at 5pm.

Hebden Bridge
A wash with creativity from artists and musicians hard at work in their studios, and with artisan cafés, tempting delis and independent bookshops around every corner, a day in Hebden Bridge is always fun. Light up the Valley is back 28 Nov with Christmas lights, market, live entertainment and more.

Haworth
With its steep, cobbled Main Street, Haworth is a charming village known the world over as the home of Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell Brontë, who spent most of their lives at Haworth Parsonage, now the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

Leeds
Leeds combines sophistication with excitement and a get-out-there-and-do-it attitude. It’s a great city to spend time in, whether you’re up for some seriously sinful shopping, a touch of culture or just want to enjoy café society.
Pop into the Trinity Shopping Centre to discover the Trinity Kitchen of street food vans, changing every few weeks. With Victorian glass-roofed arcades and great shops like Harvey Nicks to tempt you, Leeds really is a must-go-to destination.

Bradford
Grand Victorian buildings in the area of the city known as Little Germany, once home to German merchants who came here for the textile industry in the 19th century, can’t fail to impress. Nor can the Venetian style City Hall with its towering bell and clock tower.
Bradford also has some of the best Asian shops in the country, including the UK’s largest department store, Bombay Stores - perfect for beautiful fabrics.

Harrogate
Harrogate has oodles of style, with smart tearooms and classy cafés spilling onto its pavements. The celebrated Bettys tea room was first established here in 1919.

the Montpellier Quarter or hop on the number 6 bus to discover the lovely RHS gardens at Harlow Carr.

York
Marvel at the largest medieval Gothic cathedral in northern Europe, a masterpiece in stained glass and stone, including the new staue of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Scarborough
Enjoy the razzamatazz of a great British seaside town, with a champion sandy beach, lively high street, award-winning ice cream, fish'n'chips, and a castle to climb.
Stick to the South Bay for donkey rides for the kids, amusement arcades and a harbour. Or for a quieter time with long walks on the beach, bracing air and incredible views head round to the North Bay.

Whitby
This attractive, colourful town huddles around a picturesque harbour, where boats still go out to fish.
Of course, it’s famous for its fish’n’chips, is there anything better than a chippy lunch?
The jagged ruins of the Abbey rise above the town up on the cliff and there are steep steps up to reach it, but it’s well worth the climb.

Harrogate Christmas Market
Don’t miss Harrogate’s famous Christmas Market returning to the town centre for 17 days of festive shopping, between 29 Nov - 15 Dec from an eclectic mix of local traders and traditional European Christmas stalls. The City Varieties is Leeds’ hidden gem – and the Guinness World Record holder for the nation’s longest running music hall. York Christmas Tree Festival
Experience York Minster’s popular Christmas Tree Festival, set inside the medieval Minster, with 70 trees on display.
The trees will be decorated to individual themes by local businesses, schools and charities, and you can even add your own Christmas message to a tag on the festival’s prayer trees.
The festival will open on Saturday 30 Nov at 10am with a light switch-on at ‘Minster Mash-Up’, York Minster’s special service for children and families, and will run until 5 Jan.

Santa Specials at North Bay Railway
All aboard the magical Jingle Belle or Flying Snowman! This special train takes you on a journey to the North Yorkshire Pole. Adults can enjoy complimentary seasonal refreshments including mince pies, hot chocolate and mulled wine, with juice and biscuits for children.
There will be the chance to have a ride on Santa’s sleigh, write your letter to Santa, make your own reindeer food and spend some quality one to one time with the man himself in the beautifully decorated Grotto and receive an extra special gift.
