Let's meet Paul

Paul joined our team as Head of Commercial Development in June 2018, progressing to his current role in March 2020 as part of our Executive Team which sets out our strategy and leads our business.

Paul leads the programme which plans our network across the North, identifying the colleagues and vehicles needed; the tickets we sell, including their prices; and the bids we submit for tenders for current and new services, working in partnership with the six local transport authorities across our region.

Describing his role as “honestly the most enjoyable job I’ve had, with an excellent team and great colleagues”, Paul says his best moment so far was winning the contract to run our FLYER network serving Leeds Bradford Airport – the day before lockdown.

Away from work it’s a busman’s holiday for Paul – he’s just completed a 20-year project to research and write a definitive history of the former Lytham St Annes ‘Blue Buses’ company on Lancashire’s Fylde Coast – and he’s occasionally to be seen at heritage events at the wheel of preserved buses, the oldest of which dates back to 1946!

Paul’s choice of worldwide destination to visit is sunny Florida – and in music, he’s a fan of rock supergroup Queen.
