Let's meet Dave

Dave joined us as a driving instructor in 2013, becoming Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) tutor the following year, and taking on his current role in 2018. Most recently Dave’s become part of our recruitment team.

Based in The Academy in Lancashire, Dave is one of the first people prospective newcomers to our team will talk to – his role involves phoning applicants to check their Right to Work, driving licence, conducting drugs and alcohol screening and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Dave also carries out driving assessments with new starters, books driving theory and practice tests and leads our induction days.

Dave says: “I still get a buzz when new trainees pass their driving tests – my most memorable moment was when my first trainee passed his test first time!”

Away from work, Dave spends time with his grandchildren, enjoys playing chess with his daughters – and is currently learning to play the guitar. A fan of traditional Lancashire fare – pie or fish and chips are his favourites – Dave’s favourite destination is the picture-postcard St Ives in Cornwall.

And his superhero? “My wife” says Dave, “because she’s always there for me. She’s my rock”.
