Let's meet Barry
Starting his career with us as a Driver back in 1992, Barry progressed to become Duty Manager in Keighley in 2001 and two decades later, is happily rising to the daily challenges of his role.
Barry says: “All days are different – my day begins at 03.30, allocating vehicles from the garage, making sure all work is covered and looking after the wellbeing of our drivers.
“The thing I like most is when I have everything covered, all routes are operating as planned and everything is running smoothly.”
Barry’s proudest moment at work came when he was voted as Keighley’s Champion in the Transdev 2020 Honours, receiving his award from our CEO Alex Hornby. It was a challenging year with Barry’s wife Sue having been in intensive care with Covid-19, but throughout he still showed total commitment to his role, his colleagues and our customers.
Sue still has long Covid, and Barry’s spare time passion for walking has had to take second place to caring for his wife – but in return, he enjoys her signature dish of fried chicken and curried goat – yes, you read that right – with rice and peas!
