Let's meet Alan

Alan has a wealth of experience across the company. having joined us as a bus driver back in 1988 and stepping up to Inspector three years later. He moved to our training school as a driving instructor in 1996 and rose to become training manager in 1998. 

Alan remained with the training team for a further nine years, before becoming Quality Audit Manager in 2007 and managing special projects across the company. The five years from 2009 saw Alan appointed Operations Manager at various locations including York, Harrogate and Blackburn, plus Transdev’s former London base at Edgware. He took on his current role as General Manager in 2014, firstly in York, then at his present base in Keighley.

Describing his role as very busy, but very satisfying, Alan rates engaging with people in his team as the part of the job he enjoys most, along with planning and day to day challenges. His most memorable moments at work are focused on passing various qualifications, including as transport manager, driving instructor, Institute of Advanced Motorists and psychometric assessor.

Alan’s team describe him as “best boss ever … approachable, very friendly, honourable, professional and reliable”. Asked for one word to describe him, they gave us two – “experienced” and “fantastic!”

Away from the depot, Alan enjoys family time with his grandchildren, football and fishing – he also has an eclectic taste in music and says if he could see just two acts live in concert, it’d be The Pogues – and Lady Gaga!
