Welcome to The Academy! A new name and new-look buses for our trainee drivers
1 month ago
We’re driving ahead with plans to boost training and recruit new people to join our growing business across the North – starting with the launch of a brand-new identity for our training and development.
The first of our training buses to wear our new people-development brand – The Academy – has hit the road, and that’s only the beginning.
We’re also rolling out plans to invest in new and completely renovated training rooms and facilities as we look to recruit the best people to join its team of over 1,000 drivers and support colleagues.
The first training bus in the new Academy livery features Rosso bus driver Fungai Mbavarira who was chosen as Driver of the Year for his amazing customer care and driving skills, and The Keighley Bus Company driver Stephanie Graham, whose happy customers helped her win the Customer Choice award, and who has since become a familiar voice to millions as a radio star of the Government’s safety campaign during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Our CEO Alex Hornby said:
“The introduction of our first new-look training bus marks the launch of our new brand ‘the Academy’ covering all of our people development function, and underlining our commitment to invest in our teams right across the North of England.
I’m delighted that this newly liveried training bus for the Academy features two of our brightest rising stars and winners at our own 2020 Amazing Awards, in the hope that their success will inspire others to begin their own career journey with us.
Just as with any other business, we’re not insulated from the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic – but we’ve taken the opportunity to review everything we do to help our people develop in their roles, while attracting the best newcomers to join our team.
Following on from that review, we’re now investing in the facilities we provide to support our teams, starting with a new driver training centre and offices at our Queensgate depot in Burnley which is now almost complete, and continuing this Autumn with renovation work on our training rooms, driver welfare facilities and offices at our Starbeck depot in Harrogate.
More will follow as we create a bright, modern and welcoming environment, helping our people to deliver the best customer service.”
As we look towards future growth, we are currently recruiting new drivers to join our teams at Rochdale, Burnley and Blackburn. If you want to know more, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Rosso Operations Manager Phil Harris on [email protected] for more information or an application form.
